How Thai VAT works in 2026
Thailand's VAT system (ภาษีมูลค่าเพิ่ม) is governed by the Revenue Code. The statutory rate is 10%, but a Royal Decree has maintained the effective rate at 7% since 1997, renewed annually. VAT applies to most goods and services, while certain items and small businesses (turnover under THB 1.8M/year) are exempt. Businesses charge output VAT and can reclaim input VAT.
