Retirement Age Calculator

When can you retire? This calculator projects your portfolio growth toward your FI (Financial Independence) number and tells you the age you can retire based on your savings rate and the 4% rule.

How the 4% rule works

The 4% rule says you can safely withdraw 4% of your retirement portfolio in your first year of retirement (adjusted for inflation each year) without running out of money for 30+ years. Your FI number is simply your annual expenses divided by 4%. For example, if you need $40,000/year, you need a $1,000,000 portfolio.
