myIR Guide — Online Portal, Registration, and Digital Services in NZ
the myIR online portal in New Zealand. The guide covers the account registration using the RealMe login, the online tax return filing (the IR3, the GST, the employment information), the payment management, and the secure document messaging with the IRD.
Account Registration and Access
The myIR is the Inland Revenue's online portal for the individual taxpayers, the businesses, and the tax agents. The registration requires the RealMe login — the government's secure login system. After the RealMe registration, the user links the myIR account using the IRD number and the activation code (mailed to the registered address). The myIR portal provides the access to: the tax summary, the income details, the KiwiSaver information, the student loan balance, the Working for Families entitlements, and the child support details. The businesses may access the PAYE, the GST, and the employer information through the myIR business account.
Online Services and Filing
Through the myIR portal, the taxpayers may: (a) file the IR3 personal tax return online with the pre-filled income data, (b) file the GST returns and view the transaction history, (c) file the employment information (EI) each pay period, (d) make the payments using the credit card, the debit card, or the internet banking, (e) view the assessment notices and the tax calculations, (f) upload the supporting documents securely, (g) apply for the refunds, and (h) update the personal details (the address, the bank account, the tax code). The myIR mobile app is available for the iOS and the Android. See our IRD Guide → for the comprehensive IRD services.
