How Russian salary calculation works in 2026
In Russia, the employer is responsible for withholding NDFL (налог на доходы физических лиц) from the employee's gross salary and paying social contributions (страховые взносы) on top of the salary. The employee sees only the net salary after NDFL. The employer's total cost is the gross salary plus social contributions.
NDFL (2026 progressive rates): 13% on annual income up to 2.4M RUB, 15% from 2.4M to 5M, 18% from 5M to 20M, 20% from 20M to 50M, and 22% above 50M RUB. Standard child deductions of 1,400 RUB per child per month apply. Non-residents pay a flat 30%.
Social contributions (employer, ~30%): Pension insurance 22% (up to unified limit of 2,979,000 RUB, then 10%), Medical insurance 5.1% (uncapped), Social insurance 2.9% (up to limit, then 0%), and Accident insurance (default 0.2%).
