Bright-Line Test Rules
- From 1 July 2024: 2 years for residential property (reduced from 5 years)
- 27 Mar 2021 – 30 Jun 2024: 5 years for most residential properties
- 29 Mar 2018 – 26 Mar 2021: 5 years
- 1 Oct 2015 – 28 Mar 2018: 2 years
- Before 1 Oct 2015: No bright-line test
- Family home exemption and rollover relief may apply in some circumstances
- Commercial, farm and land-only property generally not subject to the bright-line test
