Property Tax in Tuvalu
Property taxation in Tuvalu is minimal. There is no annual property tax, and the main property-related charge is stamp duty on property transfers. This guide covers the various property-related taxes and duties.
Property Acquisition Taxes
Stamp Duty
When purchasing property in Tuvalu, buyers are required to pay stamp duty on the transfer. This is a fixed fee rather than a percentage of the property value:
- Standard Amount: A$100 to A$500 depending on the property value
- Administrative Fees: Nominal registration fees may also apply
Annual Property Taxes
Tuvalu does not impose an annual property tax or land tax. There is no recurring tax on property ownership.

Capital Gains on Property
There is no capital gains tax in Tuvalu. Gains from the sale of property are not subject to tax.
Rental Income Taxation
Rental income from property is taxable as follows:
- Individuals: Net rental income taxed at progressive PIT rates (0-15-30%)
- Corporations: Included in gross turnover, subject to 1.5% turnover tax or 30% CIT
