Lebanon Wealth Tax Guide 2026
Lebanon has no wealth tax of any kind. There is no annual net worth tax, no solidarity tax on high net worth individuals, and no tax on personal assets or accumulated wealth.
No Wealth Tax
Lebanon does not levy an annual tax on net wealth, total assets, or the market value of an individual's estate. High net worth individuals and families face zero wealth tax liability, regardless of the size of their asset base.
No Solidarity or Exceptional Taxes
Despite the severe fiscal crisis post-2019, Lebanon has not introduced a wealth tax or solidarity tax. Proposals for a one-time capital levy on large bank deposits have been discussed but not enacted.
Related Taxes
While there is no wealth tax, certain asset-related taxes exist:
- Annual property tax: 0–1% on rental value of built property (minimal)
- Motor vehicle tax: Annual tax based on engine size and age
- Banking transaction taxes: Minimal stamp duties on certain financial transactions
International Perspective
The absence of wealth tax makes Lebanon a potentially attractive jurisdiction for high net worth individuals from countries with wealth taxes (such as France, Spain, Norway, or Switzerland). However, political and economic instability since 2019 has significantly reduced this advantage in practice.
